The first Emerson Creek wind turbines are starting to be assembled, with more to follow in the months ahead.
As more components arrive onsite, foundation work and access roads are now complete for all turbines and the underground collection system connecting all of the turbines together is just over 50% completed.
What to Expect in the weeks ahead
For the remainder of October and first few weeks of November, residents in the project area can expect the following activities:
- Main Power Transformer delivery -The project's main power transformer, or MPT, will arrive on site in late October. When the transformer is installed, it will require a sustained period of work that will result in overnight construction activity as described here.
- Wind Turbine Assembly - The project's first wind turbine is having the blades installed this week. The assembly process will continue in the coming weeks as components arrive and cranes are walked from one turbine location to the next. We anticipate 4-6 additional turbines will be completed by the end of October.
- Transmission Line - Construction on the overhead transmission line that connects the project substation to the regional electric grid will continue moving north from the starting at the project substation off Sandhill Road.
- Wind Turbine Delivery - Components will primarily be arriving from the west via OH-162. Components may be held by GE at our welcome center on OH-162, approximately one mile west of Jennifer Road, before moving forward to their designated turbine location. Drivers traveling via OH-162 and on RUMA-designated roads throughout the project area should be prepared for oversized loads and congestion when deliveries are taking place.
