This month, wind turbine components will continue to arrive on site for Emerson Creek Wind as we prepare for the turbine erection process. The first turbine components have arrived onsite just this week, with deliveries expected to continue in the weeks and months ahead.
As of September 9th, 90% of the wind turbine foundation locations have been excavated and 46% of those foundations have been completed and backfilled. Access roads are more than 85% complete and underground collection trenching and boring are more than 30% complete.
What to Expect in September:
Throughout September, residents in the project area can expect the following activities:

Turbine foundation excavation and backfill - Crews will continue excavating, constructing, and backfilling the remaining turbine foundations from the southern part of the site to the north.

Transmission Line - The overhead transmission line that connects the project substation to the regional electric grid is expected to be built between August 2026 and February 2027, with construction starting at the project substation off Sandhill Road and moving north.

Wind Turbine Delivery - Components will primarily be arriving from the west via OH-162. Components may be held by GE at our welcome center on OH-162, approximately one mile west of Jennifer Road, before moving forward to their designated turbine location. Drivers traveling via OH-162 and on RUMA-designated roads throughout the project area should be prepared for oversized loads and congestion when deliveries are taking place.

Wind Turbine Assembly Turbine assembly starts with the tower sections and is followed by the nacelle (generator), hub, and blades. All turbines are expected to be fully assembled by February 2027 (weather permitting).
We’re excited to complete construction by the end of 2027 and begin operating the project, delivering clean energy to the electric grid, and delivering significant community benefits to Erie and Huron Counties.
